Norwegian Offshore Wind (NOW) attended Offshore Wind Conference 2024 the 24th and 25th of January in Glasgow. The conference kickstarts a critical year of actions to address barriers affecting the deployment of offshore wind in Scotland.
For NOW, the conference provides the temperature of the Scottish offshore wind industry. Alle the major developers in Scotland were attending the conference, and NOW met with most of them.
During the conference, working group leader for the UK market Alfred Risan, and Tor Arne Johnsen, EU advisor in Norwegian Offshore Wind, received new and updated information of the wind projects in the Scotwind and INTOG leasing rounds. This will be brought forward to members of the Working Group for UK in a webinar on opportunities in the UK market.
-Even though the industry is facing challenges and the expected FID for most of the projects in Scotland are expected in the second half of the decade, the early phase of project development is going on as planned, says Alfred Risan, and adds:
-The commercial opportunities will show up. For the Norwegian suppliers who like to be early movers the time for positioning into these projects start now.
He urges members of Norwegian Offshore Wind who are interested in the UK maret to sign up for the UK & Ireland Working Group.
