At this year’s Floating Wind Days event, held on May 29th-30th, we were thrilled to present Flotation Energy, represented by, Alex Quale, Project Director for Green Volt, with the prestigious FWD Floating Wind Award. This award recognises individuals, organisations, or initiatives driving the floating offshore wind industry forward through impactful contributions to economic, societal, and environmental value.
While Flotation Energy was unable to attend the event live in Haugesund in May, we were delighted to formally present the award at the Norwegian Offshore Wind networking event during the Floating Offshore Wind conference in Aberdeen on October 10th.
The FWD Floating Wind Award is a new initiative designed to spotlight those leading innovation in floating wind energy. Earlier this year, we invited the industry to submit nominations, receiving more than 35 highly deserving candidates. Each of these nominees is contributing to the development and growth of the floating offshore wind sector in important ways. A jury composed of representatives from Green Giraffe, Westwood Energy, and McKinsey had the challenging task of selecting a winner from this remarkable pool of talent.
Why Flotation Energy?
Flotation Energy has rapidly established itself as a global leader in renewable energy, particularly in the floating wind sector. Their groundbreaking projects, including their leadership team’s involvement in the Kincardine Offshore Wind Farm in Scotland – the world’s largest grid-connected floating wind farm – have pushed the boundaries of what floating wind technology can achieve. This innovation has led to major advancements in clean energy, reducing carbon emissions while generating sustainable economic opportunities.
Most recently, Flotation Energy secured an exciting new contract with Green Volt, signalling yet another leap forward for the company. This partnership represents a significant milestone, further cementing their role in shaping the future of renewable energy, creating both economic value and positive environmental impacts.
Recognising Excellence
Flotation Energy was selected for the FWD Floating Wind Award based on their sustained contributions to the floating wind industry. Their efforts align perfectly with the values the award represents: improving the economic potential of offshore wind, driving positive societal impact, and advancing environmental sustainability.
Commenting on the award, Alex Quale from Flotation Energy expressed his gratitude for the recognition and emphasised the company's commitment to innovation and the growth of the global renewable energy market.
We are honoured to recognise Flotation Energy for their outstanding leadership and look forward to seeing how their continued efforts will inspire and shape the future of floating offshore wind energy.
