Strengthening Baltic-North Sea ties

As Poland’s Baltic offshore wind build-out gathers rapid momentum, cross-border industrial collaboration between Norway and Poland has taken another concrete step forward.

This week, during the Poland-Norway Offshore Business Meeting in Szczecin, hosted as part of the "Visit NOW: West Pomerania" market delegation, Norwegian Offshore Wind (NOW) officially signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with the Northern Chamber of Commerce in Szczecin (Północna Izba Gospodarcza w Szczecinie) and its Offshore Wind Cluster.

The agreement cements a shared commitment to bridge Norwegian floating and bottom-fixed offshore expertise with West Pomerania’s growing industrial and manufacturing power.

High local engagement and complementary strengths

The business meeting in Szczecin drew a large and highly engaged audience from across the regional supply chain. Local manufacturers, service providers, and technology developers expressed keen interest in partnering with Norwegian firms, raising targeted questions on how to establish direct B2B connections with NOW’s member network.

West Pomerania and Szczecin are rapidly positioning themselves as pivotal European hubs for offshore wind component manufacturing, staging, and maritime logistics. The local ecosystem represented in Szczecin reflected this diversity, ranging from highly specialized niche welding and steel fabrication suppliers to global maritime leaders like Kongsberg Maritime, alongside specialized legal and consultancy firms.

While Norway brings decades of harsh-environment marine engineering, floating technology leadership, and subsea expertise, Poland offers exceptional manufacturing capacity, skilled labor, and strategic Baltic infrastructure.

Navigating local content through partnership

In every emerging offshore wind market, meeting local content requirements while maintaining project timelines and cost efficiency remains a complex puzzle.

By building direct cluster-to-cluster linkages, NOW and the Northern Chamber of Commerce aim to make this "local content puzzle" easier to solve. Combining local West Pomeranian suppliers with Norwegian specialized technology and tier-1/tier-2 experience creates synergies that benefit developers on both sides of the North and Baltic Seas.

To build on the momentum generated in Szczecin, NOW and the Northern Chamber of Commerce will organize upcoming targeted matchmaking events designed to pair specific technical needs with concrete supplier capabilities.
