RENEW-BOOSTER will help renewable energy SMEs succeed

Norwegian Offshore Wind is a partner in the RENEW-BOOSTER project that is funded by the European Union. Together with partners from Denmark, France, Spain, Poland and Bulgaria, we will work to accelerate the scaling-up of SMEs in offshore wind, photovoltaics, and associated energy networks.
Enabling the Twin Transition
The European Union’s ambition to build a sustainable and resilient energy system is anchored in two key legislative pillars: the Critical Raw Materials Act and the Net-Zero Industry Act. Together, these frameworks form the backbone of Europe’s efforts to strengthen energy sovereignty and accelerate the green transition. Their objectives closely mirror those of the RENEW-BOOSTER project, underscoring the project’s strategic relevance at EU level.
At the core of this agenda, the EU has identified two critical challenges that must be addressed to enable Europe’s twin transition: securing reliable access to critical raw materials, and scaling up the production and deployment of net-zero technologies.
Accelerator providing tailored support for SMEs
The RENEW-BOOSTER project aims at driving innovation and industrialization in three critical sectors that are vital for Europe’s green transition and energy security: Photovoltaics (PV), Offshore Wind Energy, and the associated Energy
Networks.
At the core of RENEW-BOOSTER is our Accelerator, providing tailored support for SMEs to identify opportunities and develop solutions, strengthening their role in the renewable energy value chain and enhancing resilience. SME support is provided through funding, business support and training, as well as access to EU networks like the Enterprise Europe Network and eDIHs.
Expected outcomes
The project aims to trigger change and innovation, though the specific solutions will depend on your ideas for projects! Through a cascade funding mechanism, we will provide funding to projects that support change and innovation in the following areas:
- Technological innovation: Development of cutting-edge renewable energy technologies, such as advanced PV systems, offshore wind components, and smart grids.
- Process innovation: Adoption of digital tools and sustainable practices, enhancing efficiency and reducing costs across the value chain.
- Policy and market transformation: Strengthening Europe’s position as a global leader in renewables by aligning technological advancements with regulatory frameworks like the Critical Raw Materials Act.
The first call for applications for funding will be launched in March 2026 - stay tuned for more information!
