New offshore wind partnership cements industry ties between Norway and Italy

Norway’s offshore wind association Norwegian Offshore Wind signed an MoU with ANEV, the Italian National Wind Association, in Rimini this week.
The MoU was signed at the annual K.EY. the Energy Transition Expo. The signing of the MoU sets a framework for extensive cooperation between the two organisations and is a natural next step for the offshore wind cooperation between these two markets.
- The Italian offshore wind market is attractive for our member companies, with a strong pipeline of floating offshore wind projects, an offtake model ready to be implemented into auctions this year and strong regional supply chains, says Saverio Ventrelli, leader of the Working Group for Italy in Norwegian Offshore Wind. He adds:
-Through several years we have developed a good cooperation with ANEV, and I believe that this MoU can create new and stronger synergies between Italy and Norway.
The MoU states cooperation in areas such as offshore wind, power-to-x and energy storage from offshore wind. Envisaged activities are conferences, workshops, market visits and networking activities for the companies in the two organisations.
-ANEV is fruitfully working with Italian companies and policy makers to make the most of the potential of offshore wind for the decarbonisation and energy independence of our country, and the signing of this MoU represents an important opportunity for Italian and Norwegian companies to work synergistically to achieve these goals”, says Davide Astiaso Garcia, Secretary General of ANEV.
Norwegian Offshore Wind aims to establish world-leading supply chains within offshore wind. With close to 400 members, ranging from agile startups to large offshore wind developers, it is the largest industry network in Norway. NOW has 15 working groups and a dedicated working group for the Italian market with more than 60 companies. The working group set up webinars, markets visit to Italy and organise networking activities.
ANEV, Associazione Nazionale Energia del Vento, or the National Wind Energy Association, is the environmental protection association, set up in July 2002, which brings together more than 120 companies representing the national wind energy sector in Italy and abroad, including producers and operators of electricity and technology, plant designers, engineering and environmental studies, electrical traders and developers who operate in compliance with the Association’s rules and regulations.
