Export growth for Norwegian suppliers in offshore wind

Norwegian suppliers to offshore wind experienced an export growth of nearly 70 percent in 2024 compared to 2023.
This makes offshore wind the industry with the highest percentage growth among the prioritized export initiatives in Norway, according to the latest Export Report 2025 by Menon Economis.
-The competence Norwegian suppliers have built in oil & gas and maritime industry is vailuable to offshore wind projects all of the world. The global offsahore wind market is expanding, and we know that Norwegian suppliers are well prepared, comments Arvid Nesse, CEO of Norwegian Offshore Wind.
According to the report, published yesterday, five of the six industries identified by the National Export Council have experienced export growth in 2024, but this varies from 68 percent for offshore wind suppliers to 1 percent for the maritime industry.
Although there are some uncertainties connected with the number for offshore wind, the report point to a significant growth. For the offshore wind supply industry, the challenge stems from the fact that many of the suppliers also provide goods and services to other industries, particularly the oil and gas industry. Therefore, Menon does not include the supply industry in the first part of the analysis.
The export report provides an important knowledge base for discussing how Norwegian exports can grow and develop. The export report is an annual publication prepared by Menon Economics for the fifth consecutive year. The purpose of the report is to provide quantitative and qualitative information on the status of Norwegian exports to decision-makers and organizations. This year's edition of the report has been prepared on behalf of NHO, LO, Innovation Norway, Export Financing Norway, and the National Export Council.
