EU gives NOK 290 million for testing floating offshore wind in Norway! <IN ENGLISH BELOW> 30.3.2020 - kl. 13.15 Pressemelding                                                                                              EU gir 290 millioner kroner til testing av flytende havvind i Rogaland   Et internasjonalt konsortium har fått tilsagn om støtte fra EU til et prosjekt som skal designe, bygge, installere og drifte en flytende havvindmølle ved testsenteret på Karmøy. Dette vil være første gang en 10 MW vindturbin brukes på et flytende fundament.   Prosjektet har som formål å demonstrere et flytende betongfundament, OO-Star, som er utviklet av Dr. techn. Olav Olsen.  Unitech Offshore skal levere de undersjøiske kablene. Blant andre deltagere er Kværner og DNV GL.   Den flytende vindturbinen skal installeres på testfeltet til Metcentre og Sustainable Energy Catapult 10 km vest for Karmøy. De norske deltakerne er alle del av Norwegian Offshore Wind Cluster som har koordinert arbeidet fra norsk side.    Hovedmålet med FLAGSHIP-prosjektet er å demonstrere en kostnadseffektiv 10 MW flytende offshore vindturbin for å sikre at kostnad reduseres til 40-60 € / MWh i 2030.   I evalueringen fikk prosjektet full score fra EU-kommisjonen og ble derfor valgt blant 14 konkurrerende konstellasjoner. Partnerne er nå invitert til å starte prosessen for å lande den endelige avtalen som innebærer en støtte på omkring 25 millioner euro. Dette er det nest største EU-finansierte prosjektet i Norge gjennom tidende (og aller størst målt etter dagens kronekurs). Samarbeidet om prosjektsøknaden startet allerede våren 2019, og i samarbeid med EU-ekspertene i Innovasjon Norge. Konsortiet, som ledes av spanske Iberdrola, består av selskaper og institusjoner fra Norge (Dr. techn. Olav Olsen, Kværner, Unitech Offshore, MetCentre, DNV GL), Spania (Core-Marine, Cener, IHC, Zabala Innovation Consulting), Frankrike (EDF) og Danmark (DTU).   Horisont 2020 er EUs rammeprogram for forskning og innovasjon. An international consortium has received a commitment for EU funding for a project to design, build, install and operate a floating offshore wind turbine at the MetCentre in Norway. This will be the first time a 10 MW wind turbine is used on a floating foundation. The project aims to demonstrate a floating concrete foundation, OO-Star, developed by Dr. techn. Olav Olsen. Unitech Offshore will supply the submarine cables. Among other Norwegian participants are Kvaerner and DNV GL. The floating wind turbine will be installed on the test area of ​​Metcentre and Sustainable Energy Catapult 10 km west of Karmøy, South-West Norway. The Norwegian participants are all part of the Norwegian Offshore Wind Cluster which has coordinated the work from the Norwegian side. The main objective of the FLAGSHIP project is to demonstrate a cost-effective 10 MW floating offshore wind turbine to ensure that the cost per MWh is reduced to 40-60 € / MWh in 2030. In the evaluation, the project received a full score from the European Commission and was therefore selected from among 14 competing constellations. The partners have now been invited to start the process of landing the final agreement, which involves a grant of around EUR 25 million. This can thus become one of the largest EU-funded projects in Norway.
