Norwegian Offshore Wind AS, the company behind the Norwegian Offshore Wind cluster and the METCentre, has completed a capital increase of NOK 4.8 million. The capital raise will support the further development of the company’s role in building world leading supply chains within offshore wind.

Among the new shareholders are Energy Innovation Holding – owned by IKM gruppen and NorSea gruppen – and Hagland Invest. Haugaland Kraft, NORCE Innovation, Rogaland Ressurssenter, and Utsira Municipality have also participated in the capital increase.

We are pleased to bring in additional industrial owners who want to help shape the development of a leading offshore wind cluster and the METCentre as an world leading test facility for floating offshore wind. This better equips us in our plans for further development.

 – Arvid Nesse, CEO of Norwegian Offshore Wind AS.

Supporting competence building and industrial development

Energy Innovation Holding joins as a new shareholder with the ambition to actively contribute to developing the offshore wind industry.

IKM Gruppen and NorSea Gruppen – joint owners of Energy Innovation Holding AS (EIH) – have long had a clear ambition to develop services and business within offshore wind, both nationally and internationally. Norwegian Offshore Wind AS is a central driver in developing the offshore wind industry, both through the cluster and the METCentre for testing and developing floating wind technology. EIH is also the main shareholder in the Energy Innovation training and education center in Egersund, which provides training and safety courses for the wind industry. Through our ownership in these initiatives, we want to actively support the development of a robust industry and a skilled workforce within offshore wind.

– John E. Stangeland, Chair of Energy Innovation Holding AS, and Geir Høiland, Senior VP Business Development in the IKM Group.

Regional Engagement With International Impact

For Hagland Invest, the ownership represents both an industrial opportunity and a commitment to regional development.

The METCentre creates opportunities that extend far beyond the region, and the international interest the test center attracts illustrates the position this environment is gaining. Through our shipbroking and maritime business, we have deep insight into offshore wind, and we see that Norwegian Offshore Wind can play a key role in building on this foundation and generating significant ripple effects both nationally and locally.

– Paal W. Aanensen and Øivind W. Aanensen, Co-CEOs of the Hagland Group.
