Climate ministers of Scotland and Norway meet at global floating wind event

This year’s Floating Wind Days in Norway May 21-22 will open with a conversation between Minister of Climate Action in Scotland Dr. Alasdair Allan and Minister of Climate and Environment in Norway Andreas Bjelland Eriksen.

At this yearly event in the city of Haugesund, floating offshore wind executives from all over the world gather to discuss the future and development of the industry.

The climate aspect of offshore wind will naturally be a focus when the two ministers meet on stage during the opening session.

-Scotland is leading the way in tendering floating projects, and Norway is pioneering floating technology. The strong collaboration between these two markets will impact the global development of this industry, says CEO of the organizer Norwegian Offshore Wind, Arvid Nesse.

Floating Wind Days has grown to be a significant meeting place for the industry. In addition to climate, the program this year features discussions on security and defence, port development, cost reduction, biodiversity, AI, marine operations, HSE and many more.

-2025 is a pivotal year for floating offshore wind, both here in Norway and in key markets. Utsira Nord will be put to tender, and projects like Bandibuli in South Korea and Scotland’s Greenvolt will be milestones, comments Nesse.

During the festival, the participants will get the chance to visit the two turbines at Norway’s world leading test site for floating wind, METCentre. Exciting new test projects will be revealed and presented at Floating Wind Days.
