Canada takes important steps in offshore wind

The Nova Scotia Department of Energy and Natural Resources Canada has proposed five areas for the development of offshore wind farms.
The five proposed WEAs are French Bank, Middle Bank, Sable Island Bank, Sydney Bight, and Western/Emerald Bank presented on their website. This has now entered a period of engagement, ending 14 April.
Nova Scotia have stated first call for bids will be in 2025. However, current trade disputes between Canada and the U.S. may create an uncertain investment environment, which may not be favorable to offshore wind.
Nova Scotia has set a goal of offering licences for 5 GW of offshore wind energy by 2030, with the first call for bids in 2025.

4C Offshore states that despite a recent prorogation of the Canadian government, meaning all government action was paused following the resignation of Justin Trudeau, Canada is likely to begin site auctions in 2025.
-This can be an interesting market for Norwegian companies to explore. We have already established good relations to Canada in several parts of the supply chain with key players in Nova Scotia, says Astrid Green, Business Development Manager in Norwegian Offshore Wind.
